This week, the beta test for Palia began with its release of Twitter. The game promises customization and it is already on pace to become one of the most popular games in China. It’s not hard to see why this social media platform has been so successful either: it offers a unique experience that gamers seem genuinely excited about. This is just one example out of many projects we’re seeing take shape on twitter right now and prove how powerful this tool can be at driving new ideas into reality.
The “sim palia” is a Twitter thread that promises plenty of customization for characters and homes in the game.
We all know that customisation is the ultimate goal in MMOs, but how much of it will be available in Palia, the in-development “community simulation MMO” that was initially shown in June? According to a tweet, there will be lots of customizing options for both character houses and characters themselves.
Aidan Karabaich, the game’s director, confirmed house customization elements in response to a query about how much creativity would be accessible in housing and design.
“Our objective is to constantly enhance the creative options accessible to gamers when it comes to customizing their dwelling plots.” As a result, anticipate a strong system to start, with additional material and features added on a regular basis throughout time.
“For example, we began the pre-alpha without the option to modify wallpaper, but it was added halfway through.” Now that it’s a new system, we’ll be frequently developing new stuff for it.”
A response to that Twitter post includes some preliminary specifics regarding character customisation, indicating that there would be a lot of room for creativity in terms of character look. “You may obviously change your wardrobe,” says one developer, “and our objective is to offer a large range of possibilities; fashion is a key element of our game’s culture.” “However, practically, they will be somewhat restricted at launch compared to our goals. Our goal is to keep upping our fashion game and providing you with everything from catwalk looks to hobo chic.”
Readers may remember that Palia has only had one test phase up to this point: a pre-alpha that only allowed 200 individuals to participate in. Since then, the developers have been releasing nuggets of information, including a wrap-up of the pre-alpha, loads of NPC data, and, most recently, a glimpse at gameplay.
“Customization is a topic near and dear to our hearts, and it’s crucial to Palia’s identity.” Aidan K., you couldn’t have articulated it any better!
